Guest Services

In Guest Services we like to think of our opportunities to serve as a small commitment that has a big impact!  And with so many places to plug in, you’ll find a spot that stirs your passion while serving God, His mission and His people!  Browse our teams below and contact us for more information.

This amazing team loves people through coffee – and they have a lot of fun in the process – sharing in community with each other and our entire congregation! Choose from one of two shifts: Prep and Service (8:15 – 10:30 am) OR Service and Wrap (10:30am – completion during second service).  Volunteers are asked to remain through their selected shift, and have the option to serve 1 to 4 times a month. You really have flexibility…but be warned, once you’ve served once you’ll want to come back again and again!

Looking for a more behind-the-scenes opportunity? Our communion teams serve 1 – 3 times a month and provide mission-critical work for our Sunday morning services. Communion is a true act of worship in our church, and the teams that set up and/or clean-up are a vital component of our volunteer ministries. Commitment is pretty simple – arriving at 8am for set up, or staying 15 minutes past a morning service to reset.

If you’re a medical professional or first responder, this may be just the spot for you!  Team members serve 1 to 4 times a month, and are on-call during the regular service they attend should a need arise. This team is not often called upon, but greatly appreciated!

Have a heart to serve, but a schedule that makes it difficult?  We’ve got a spot for you! Throughout the year we have opportunities to serve for special events and mid-week moments.  Whether it’s prepping candles for a Christmas Eve service or joining for a special project, this is a great way to serve God and others as your schedule permits; and for families, it’s an awesome way to serve together – especially those with homeschooled kids.  We’ll simply keep you on the list and email you with the details when an opportunity arises.

We’re a big church!  And that means a lot of people to assist in finding those parking spots quickly and getting settled before services begin.  Here’s a role to simply wave hello as guests enter our campus, and best direct them when they arrive…and when they depart.  Opportunities to serve are open for both the 9am and 11am service.

The COTC/Franklin Security team provides a layer of protective services for the Franklin campus – keeping people safe during worship services, weekly classes and special events.  This rockstar team must be able to pass the background check and attend continuing education classes – but they have a lot of fun completing them! Certifications are mandatory for some security processes and equipment maintained by security team members.  Team leads will advise all new team members during training on any required certification. No previous security or law enforcement experience required – just good observation skills and a willingness to learn!

Serving as a worship host is where it’s at!  This high-impact team provides the opportunity to greet our congregation with a warm smile, assist those looking for a seat in the sanctuary, serve communion/offering and count the attendees in your section.  Hosting is a great way to serve God, serve others, and still attend service! Opportunities are open for both the 9am and 11am service.

Our greeter team has the privilege of being that first face when stakeholders and guests arrive!  The simple act of saying hello and welcoming our congregants into the building goes a long way in sharing our hearts…in sharing the heart of Jesus!  Whether you’re stationed at a main door, inside the church auditorium or with Kid City, you’re the welcoming face that simply says good morning and how can I best guide you! Opportunities are open for both the 9am and 11am service.

pastoral Care

Help when life is hard. We all have defining moments in our lives – challenging circumstances, relational pain and transitional seasons. How we respond and who we surround ourselves with during these times has a direct impact on our futures. We want to be people that help marriages, families and relationships thrive by pointing them to the hope found in Jesus.

Jesus calls the church to be an agent of support and healing for His people. Our Response Pastors provide spiritual, emotional, and relational support to guests looking for assistance and/or prayer. Response Pastors serve Mon-Thursday from 9AM-5PM.

Premarital mentors come alongside a couple preparing for marriage for approximately six to eight sessions over a 2-3 month period. The mentor is equipped to utilize a premarital inventory (which provides insight and preparation in areas such as communication styles, conflict resolution, finances, intimacy, etc.) and share tools and insights learned from their own marriage as well as training received through the premarital mentoring program at COTC.

Support communities meet together on Monday nights for a time of worship and encouragement. Join our Support communities experience team and help us in a variety of ways: set up and/or tear down the spaces where the groups meet, join our team for prayer before the night begins, welcome guests, help serve coffee, etc.

Join Wrap Around by serving as a First Responder (those who serve foster & adoptive families at the moment they receive news of a child placement with groceries, meals, clothing & light chores) or as part of a WRAP TEAM (a longer-term investment in a specific family that you are assigned to through words of encouragement, relief care, acts of service, or prayer.)

Kidcity

In KidCity, we have the privilege of investing in the next generation of our church! Far from just being childcare, instead we are partnering with parents in the discipleship of their children. We have multiple opportunities to serve, across a variety of age groups and would love to talk with you about how you can be involved in seeing the fame and deeds of God made known to the next generation!

Welcoming new families and ensuring they find their way to the appropriate classrooms and the main auditorium, assisting with snacks and passing out curriculum.

Assisting with the logistics flow of an environment and helping to ensure each small group leader has what they need in terms of resources and supplies.

Our infants, crawlers, and walkers need caring men and women to hold them and play with them and ensure that even at the youngest of ages, they see, hear and feel God’s love for them.

In ages 2 years old – 5th grade, we need men and women who are willing to be with a small group of kiddos and engage in conversations, ask questions and work through a few curriculum activities to help engage their understanding of God’s love for them as well as travel with them to and from large group to participate in worship and hear the Bible Story. We will equip you with everything you need to be successful and no theology or teaching degrees are necessary!

This role is perfect for middle and high schoolers as well as adults who may not feel entirely confident leading out in the small group, but are willing to sit in and provide support for the small group leader.

Women's Ministry

At COTC Women, we exist to disciple women in the way of Jesus. In order to accomplish this, we provide both weekly and monthly gathering opportunities so that women have a chance to connect with other women and grow in their faith. We want to provide authentic community, refreshing experiences and deepening discipleship. We have opportunities for volunteers for set up and clean up of experiences and as we grow, will have more and more chances for you to be involved! If you’d like to talk about how you can be involved with COTC Women, contact us!

CARS

The Church of the City Cars Ministry was created to provide these struggling families with reliable transportation that can make the difference in achieving financial stability and safety for their families.

We rely on a capable volunteer team and on a staff leader to navigate the needs of the ministry. Diagnostics and major repairs are contracted out to our professional partners, but we do have a few car enthusiasts to complete light repairs and clean up the cars before giving them away. Our benevolence team conducts the qualification interview, and if within guidelines, the team makes the decision to which applicants receive cars. We rely on an additional team of volunteers for running cars and cleaning/detailing as well as other important tasks that support the ministry.

Donating a car is easy. You are provided with a written acknowledgment of your donation for tax purposes. If interested in donating a car, click here. We are currently accepting cars, trucks, and vans, preferably in working condition, but please contact us with details about your car even if its not running. Prior to giving your donated vehicle to a family in need, it is repaired, test driven and inspected to ensure it is road ready. Depending on the condition, some donated cars are salvaged for parts or sold. The proceeds of which go to support the Cars Ministry.
